Penguins VS. Canadiens Game 7: Proud of Our Boys

The game started out weird. Ten seconds into the game Crosby got called for driving Josh Gorges into the boards. "I was stunned," Crosby said,  "I don't know how that's a penalty 10 seconds into the game."

The Habs capitalized on that and Brian Gionta scored. This were looking scary. Then, Dominic Moore scored and I knew our boys were not going to win this year.  In the second period Mike Cammallari and Travis Moen scored.

It was the beginning of the end. But then, Kunie and Staal scored...could we make this happen. A four on three starting the their period made us gain fresh hope. But that hope was short-lived. Halak wasn't human...he was a machine and Flower was not on his A-game last night.

Brian Gionta scored again driving the dagger deeper. At the end of the game, the crowedcheered louder than I've ever heard them. “The crowd and the way that they responded when we were down 4-0 was pretty incredible,” Crosby said. “I think that we can almost say thank you for that. We appreciate it. That’s the loudest that I ever heard it. It’s not the way that we wanted to finish here, but they should be proud in the way that they supported us here for sure.”

Our boys are crestfallen and wounded. But I am PROUD of our boys and am looking forward to next season...next year IS OUR YEAR!!!

When you fall down on the journey up the mountain, the disappointment of not making it to the top makes it difficult to appreciate just how far you have gotten.

 To Our Boys:

Dear Penguin Family,

Don't leave the Igloo with your tail between your legs. You played a good season and I'm proud of you guys. Yes, you lost, and I can only imagine how much it hurts. However, use this defeat as a learning experience. You are going to lose a few guys next season, but don't worry, you're going to gain some new ones as well. Next season, come out with a WAR CRY! Check the "bad guys" into the boards, make more screens, connect passes, shoot in the upper corners, shoot more often, and show up to play every game. This year was not our year, the "hockey gods" decreed it as such. I believe in you and our organization, and next year IS OUR YEAR! So don't be discouraged and crestfallen, but stand tall and proud. You are champions in my eyes-win or lose- because of your character, teamwork, and brotherhood. I love you guys and am longing for next season to start already. LET'S GO PENS!!!

Your Fan,

Lauren D.

Penguins Vs. Senators Game 4: Winners Never Quit

Tuesday night was some good hockey! The Pens won 7-4! Malkin scored the only goal in the first peroid on a power-play again! Then, Sid scored early in the second...and 12 seconds later Cooke scored by an awesome pass from Max. Then Sid scored again.

“I feel like I’m creating things,” Crosby said. “That’s what I want to do and the puck’s gone in.”

The Sens pulled their goalie Elliott and replaced him with Leclaire. Then, Neil scored, and then Alfredsson scored....the Pens were getting sloppy...

The Sens were about to make a play when Orpik was smashed into the glass breaking it.

Kunie scored from a feed by Sid, and then MAX SCORED! Finally he got his dues! Max plays like a man on a mission...he was fed by none other than Adams!

“They were pushing and pressing and they’re a team that never stops working,” Talbot said. “They’re in their building and they obviously wanted to come back so that was a big momentum goal for us, and these are the goals that we’ve been able to come and get.”

The Sens drew it in 5-3 when Cullen shot one past Flower.  Jordan scored too making the win 7-4.

“I still think we can improve and I think the second period was a good example of that,” Crosby said. “We did a lot of good things early on in the second. We kind of let them back into it and sat back and you can’t afford to do that at any point, no matter what the score is. So you try to learn from that but I think we did a lot of good things that allowed us to get that lead so we want to build off of that.”

Devil Defeat Again!

The Devils defeated the Penguins 6 times now! They won 5-2.  Our boys were playing well in the beginning of the 1rst period. "Kunie" scored won in. A turnover by Letang cause a devil goal...it was all down-hill from there. All the other goals were turn-overs at the blue line. The Penguins defeated themselves. Ruslan scored in the third, showing that he's still got the magic. Although they had a 3 minute power play at the end, they couldn't win it. Sid was called for goalie interference...it wasn't. He turned towards Brodeur and said, "Come on Marti!" All I can say is, it doesn't really matter what happens against the Devils in the season...in the play-offs, if the Pens play them, I predict that the will redeem themselves.

Hopefully tonight...it will be a win!

Double Defeat....

On Thursday, Pens lost in overtime to the Hurricanes. Jordan and Eric got a goal a piece. However, The "Canes" scored in overtime winning 4-3.

Then, this Friday, the Pens lost again to the Devils (the 5th time in a row) 1-3. However, the third goal was goalie interference. Devil captain Jamie Langenbrunner pushed Kunie into the penguin bench! But the Pens were not able to capitalize on the opportunity. Sid the Kid was the only one to get a goal last night.
