Penguins VS. Canadiens Game 7: Proud of Our Boys
The game started out weird. Ten seconds into the game Crosby got called for driving Josh Gorges into the boards. "I was stunned," Crosby said, "I don't know how that's a penalty 10 seconds into the game."
The Habs capitalized on that and Brian Gionta scored. This were looking scary. Then, Dominic Moore scored and I knew our boys were not going to win this year. In the second period Mike Cammallari and Travis Moen scored.
It was the beginning of the end. But then, Kunie and Staal scored...could we make this happen. A four on three starting the their period made us gain fresh hope. But that hope was short-lived. Halak wasn't human...he was a machine and Flower was not on his A-game last night.
Brian Gionta scored again driving the dagger deeper. At the end of the game, the crowedcheered louder than I've ever heard them. “The crowd and the way that they responded when we were down 4-0 was pretty incredible,” Crosby said. “I think that we can almost say thank you for that. We appreciate it. That’s the loudest that I ever heard it. It’s not the way that we wanted to finish here, but they should be proud in the way that they supported us here for sure.”
Our boys are crestfallen and wounded. But I am PROUD of our boys and am looking forward to next season...next year IS OUR YEAR!!!
To Our Boys:
Dear Penguin Family,
Don't leave the Igloo with your tail between your legs. You played a good season and I'm proud of you guys. Yes, you lost, and I can only imagine how much it hurts. However, use this defeat as a learning experience. You are going to lose a few guys next season, but don't worry, you're going to gain some new ones as well. Next season, come out with a WAR CRY! Check the "bad guys" into the boards, make more screens, connect passes, shoot in the upper corners, shoot more often, and show up to play every game. This year was not our year, the "hockey gods" decreed it as such. I believe in you and our organization, and next year IS OUR YEAR! So don't be discouraged and crestfallen, but stand tall and proud. You are champions in my eyes-win or lose- because of your character, teamwork, and brotherhood. I love you guys and am longing for next season to start already. LET'S GO PENS!!!
Your Fan,
Lauren D.

When you fall down on the journey up the mountain, the disappointment of not making it to the top makes it difficult to appreciate just how far you have gotten.

Pens VS. Habs Game 6: Giving her up
The Pens gave up the game Monday night. Cammellari scored a wrister in the net 1:13 into the first period. We were all worried. Flower appeared to be sleeping. Then, to our joy a scuffle went around Halak and Sidney batted the puck out of the air and into the net. Finally, our boy scores! End of the first period.
In the second period, Lapierre, of the Habs, got a penalty. The Pens shot the puck at Halak again and again, but they get pinking of the post. Then, Hamrlik of the Habs, got a penalty and this time, Tanger shot one home.
We thought we'd win the game for sure, but the momentum went in the Canadians favor. Then, Mike Cammellari and Jorslav Spacek scored within three minutes of each other. We were now down a goal.
Our boys hammered and hammered Halak, but he withstood the blows.
At the start of the third period, we still believe we had a chance. Our boys are notorious for coming back from behind. However, Maxim Lapierre scored making the deficit 4-2. Our boys battled until the buzzer. Gonchar shot a puck that hit off of Billy G into the net with 2:04 left in the period.
Altogether, our boys played well. However, our boys didn't hit enough or stir the pot enough. I hope they realize that and make up for it tonight.

Games 4 and 5: The Staalsie has returned
Game three was so disappointing that I couldn't write about it. The Pens dominated the whole game, but a few fluke goals won the game for the Habs. The Pens lost 3-2 that game. Surprising though, Jordan Staal returned only 6 days after a severed tendon in his lower leg. Incredible!
It was a tough game on Saturday too. With 18:18 gone in the first period, Tanger scored on a powerplay goal.
Then, 9:50 into the second, Gonchar scored. Our Pens played amazing, they should've scored more, but Halak was smoking! Flower almost had a hat-trick, but Brooks accidentally helped Camelari knock one in. Altogether, it was a good game.

Penguins VS. Canadians Game 3: THe Flower Blooms
Last night was definitely a nail biter. However, Flower played flawlessly. He carried the team on his shoulders. The first period, the Penguins started slowly. The Habs were hounding their net again and again. If it weren't for Flower's amazing saves, the Pens would have been in deep poop. The period ended with a socre of 0-0. The second period started and it was a total reversal. The Pens were hounding Halak...and he stood them up as well. The second period ended 0-0. Then, in the beginning of the third, our boy Gino Malkin scored at the point! His favorite spot! It was now 1-0. The Pens fought and fought, and with some AMAZING saves by Flower and an open netter, the Pens won 2-0. Flower now has 4 shout-outs in the play-offs...two away from Barrasso.
“We played a patient game,” Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. “We weren’t trying to score with every rush ... That’s what you need and how you need to play in the playoffs, to play that way in a tight game.”

Penuins VS. Canadiens Game 2: Let's Get Physical
The Penguins had good puck-handling, they were quick on their feet and they actually were making shots on net. However, Habs goalie Jaroslav Halak was a beast! Halak turned away 38 out of 39 shots! The game was indeed very frustrating. The frustration was evident as Crosby broke his stick over the goal post and Craig Adams was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for hitting Marc-Andre Bergeron from behind, with less than four minutes left to play. The Pens lost 3-1.
"They were a little bit more aggressive in the neutral zone and in their zone, but that's the playoffs, I mean everybody has got to adjust," Crosby said. "They're going to adjust and we're going to adjust. At the end of the day we've got to find a way to put the puck in the net."

Penguins Vs Canadaian: A great Victory with a Severing Loss
I was a little nervous at the start of this game...how would our boys do? Well, the Pens got scoring from Sergei Gonchar, Jordan Staal, Kris Letang, Craig Adams, Alex Goligoski, and Bill Guerin into an empty net! And pretty much all of them were on a power-play! The Pens were smoking the power-play!!! The Capitals in the previous serious only made one out of what like 33? The Habs got goals from P.K. Subban—his first in the NHL—Michael Cammalleri, and Brian Gionta.
However, our cutie, Mr. Jordan Staal, went down with a leg injury shortly after Markov left the game, and he did not return. He severed a tendon in his lower right leg and at best will not return until the conference finals.
